Tiivistelmä:A story of a chief executive officer and his team, who adopted management development as an essential component of a massive and urgent change of culture and strategy within the ICL information technology company is told. It is a story about developing managers for today's and tomorrow's business needs. The methods of a total cultural change within the company are examined. The role of top management is described. It is shown how extensive training programs in setting objectives and standards, and in effective appraisal of performance were created for all managers. A career management model is presented. Some supporting programs are also described. The progress in personnel management and in business results is assessed.
