| Tiivistelmä: | In spite of the fact that most of the oil is consumed and the greenhouse gases are produced in cities, the role of the cities is often overlooked in the huge problems of global warming and oil supply. This is due to the fact that the focus is on purely technological matters. In light of this, the structure and direction of cities in the 21st century is considered. Rebuilding cities requires a combination of new light rail technology, traffic calming and urban villages. These three solutions involve available technology and land-use principles being merged and integrated. |
