Tiivistelmä:Nontraditional reward systems are gaining in popularity with United States employers. An overview of the major trends is presented. The pay-for-performance systems such as gainsharing,profit sharing,small-group and individual incentives are extensively used. The growth in grouped-based pay-for-performance systems in encouraging,for they also offer the possibility of increased employment stability. It is set forth that if organizations can vary their compensation costs with performance,they have less need to vary employment through layoffs.
