Tiivistelmä: | Three models for thinking about or responsibilities with respect to climate change are compared and evaluated. One is concerned with maximizing the present discounted value of consumption; the second views climate change through the lens of the tragedy of the commons. The third is based on the conception of a fiduciary trust, and it is often advanced by biologists. The first two approaches are found to rest on implausible assumptions, while the third seems to be more credible, and not to require overly burdensome policies. It provides the analytically most promising approach for analysing the responsibilities with respect to climate change. |
