| Tiivistelmä: | When major developing countries embarked upon industrialisation in the fifties, they have chosen an inward-looking, import-substituting strategy of industrialisation. This is contrary to international trends which show an increasing intra-industry trade in capital goods. The rationale behind this intra-industry trade is the benefit to be reaped by narrow specialisation and static and dynamic economies of scale.
