| Tiivistelmä: | In the Comecon countries less electricity is used per person that in most industrially developed countries. The inefficient use of electric power exacerbates the shortage of electricity in these countries. In the 1970s and 1980s the proportion of thermal power declined in the Comecon as a whole and the proportion of atomic power increased. Electric power in Comecon countries is being developed on a basis of mutual collaboration, but this has been very superficial in the 1980s. Real collaboration has been hampered by wasteful use of resources, the methods formulated and forms of general cooperation between USSR and other European Comecon countries. The reform process taking place in these countries will change the situation. |
