Tiivistelmä:Even though a large part of North Americans have worries about eating Genetically Modified (GM) food, the market as a whole and the governments have mainly failed to respond to consumer preferences in regard of labeling the GM food. Neither the consumer groups, NGO's, nor activist organizations urging the companies to take such action have achieved their goal. This article analyses whether, in such a situation, individual companies can be ethically requiered to label their GM food products. The authors argue that individual corporations can't have an ethical obligation to label GM products because of unilateral costs involved with labelling and given the lack of evidence for any risk to human health.
