| Tiivistelmä: | The main characteristics of research and development in the Swiss industry have been investigated in a 1988 survey. 358 of the 940 selected corporations have filled in the questionnare, and they represented 127 different industrial segments. Two main determinants of R&D were analysed: appropriability conditions and technological opportunities. The results of the survey were found relevant for patent and research politics for both corporations and the state. It is concluded that the efficiency of the recent patent system varies from sector to sector. For example, it is very efficient in the pharmaceutical industry. |
