| Tiivistelmä: | Some new developments in the east of Europe are shortly reviewed. The challenges for the economic theory and the business practice are summarized. The increasing importance of entrepreneurship in this region is emphasized. Some misunderstandings concerning the tasks of entrepreneurs and the role of joint business ventures are identified and examined. Some conflicting views on the mission of small and large businesses are discussed. It is shown that the problems of transition to the market economy are different in the Soviet Union and in the other countries of East Europe. |
