| Tiivistelmä: | Usually central banks carry a large share of government deposits on their books.Alternative system is represented by arrangement where governments have their deposits in banking sector.In the first case central banks have to recycle government cash flows to offset liquidity shortages of commercial banks and to use the deposits as an instrument of monetary policy.On the other hand the management of the government surpluses can be carried out by the treasury and commercial banking sector.The latter case does not mean that it has no implications for the central banks.It calls for a coordination at the operational level between the central bank and treasury. |
