| Tiivistelmä: | The authors outline a system for supporting the modeling of physical distribution situations and the selection or construction of algorithms for their solution. The system will incorporate the current knowledge and expertise in vehicle routing. Its main contribution will be in the design and implementation of techniques for representing and manipulating this knowledge. Since the papers by Dantzig and Ramser and Clarke and Wright, the development of optimization and approximation algorithms for vehicle routing and scheduling has been a central activity in operations research. |
