| Tiivistelmä: | The progress of the Baltic States is not only impressive in terms of their transition to stable democracies and market economies, but also in terms of adapting to the acquis communautaire. In the Baltic region the open door of the Euro-Atlantic community is represented primarily by the impending enlargement of the European Union. The EU membership of the Baltic States will help create the conditions for closer and more intensive co-operation with Russia. |
