Tiivistelmä:This survey examines the retail market for bakery products in Germany, covering the time period 1993-1997. Forecasts are to the year 2002. In 1997 the market reached 5.3 tonnes, up 1.7% on 1996 levels. The market performed slightly better in value terms, registering nominal growth of 1.8% over the past year to DM24,924 million. Nominal growth has outpaced volume growth over the review period with value sales up 7.6% since 1993 compared to the 3.5% growth in volume sales. In real terms the market has stagnated with a negligible 0.2% increase over the five-year period. After a decrease in 1995 real value growth has strengthened year-on-year.
