| Tiivistelmä: | Maximizing returns from patenting inventions requires a legal and economic expertise from the day of the invention until the grant of the patent. In this article, the decisions that need to be taken by patent attorneys and innovation managers during the filing process are described chronologically. Juridicial as well as economic decision variables are presented, and the main underlying trade-offs between the extension of the claims and the enforceability of the patent application are explained. |
