| Tiivistelmä: | The relationship between planning and performance is examined. It is aimed to bring about greater rigor and clarity to the study of this relationship, and a detailed examination of the major shortcomings of previous studies is presented. It is indicated that the organizational context of planning- captured by the resistance to planning and resources provided for planning- is the dominant impact on planning system effectiveness, broadly construed. Implications for further research on planning systems and directions for future extensions of the study are discussed. |
