| Tiivistelmä: | The CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Fusion Systems provides an inside look at his company's longstanding patent dispute with Mitsubishi Electric Co. Fusion Systems entered Japan in 1975. In 1977 Mitshubishi purchased one of Fusion's lamp systems and began to file a large number of patent applications that looked just like Fusion's proprietary microwave-lamp technology. In 1983 Fusion figured out that Mitsubishi was "patent flooding " - a technique designed to cross-licencing agreements. Negotiation between Fusion and Mitsubishi over patent right and cross-licencing agreement are discussed. From this experience the author concludes that there are profound differences between the Japanese and USA and European patent systems. |
