Tiivistelmä:This paper examines Medicaid (hereafter as: M.) enrollment and private coverage loss following expansions of M. eligibility. It attempts to replicate Cutler and Gruber's (in Q.J.Econ. 111, 392,1996.) results using the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). There is found smaller rates of take-up and little evidence of crowding out. It is found that some of the difference in results can be attributed to different samples and recall periods in the used data sets. Focusing on children whose eligibility status changes during the sample, smaller take-up effects are estimated. Little evidence of crowding out is found in any of the extensions.
