| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of the article is to examine do corporate finance incentives have an effect on the extent of using property insurance as a risk management tool. Using property insurance data obtained from a Swiss database, a positive relation is found between the expected costs of distress and property insurance coverage. In turn, the dividend payout ratio seems to associate negatively with property insurance coverage. The insurance deductible and the limit of coverage are each others' substitutes, and different incentives are important for them. |
