RETAILING

Tiivistelmä:It would seem that in the mid-1990s the retail sector in Singapore is undergoing yet another period of major change. Recession is bringing its own problems. National markets throughout Southeast Asia are being opened to foreign retailers, so that the same companies are to be found in the neighbouring countries of Malaysia, Indonesia, and THailand as well as in Singapore. Changes in sales tax rates, as in Japan, and the growing strength of the Singapore dollar have also had an impact on sales.
