| Tiivistelmä: | Since 1970, various rural development projects, such as the introduction and diffusion of high-yielding of rice and land reform programs, have been implemented to address problems stemming from rural poverty. These projects have caused drastic changes in the socioeconomic structures of rural areas. One of these changes is the emergence of the custome known as sangla, which became common in the 1980s in progressive rice-farming areas of Inner Central Luzon and Panay, states the author of the article. |
