| Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines the recreational economic value (hereafter as: rec-econ-val.) of bird watching in the Kuscenneti National Park (KNP) at Lake Manyas, an important endangered species (as: edg-specs.) habitat. An economic valuation for the benefits from the KNP is important data for stakeholders and local authorities. The travel cost method is used to estimate recreational demand for the KNP. The rec-econ-val. of the KNP is USD 103.320.074 annually, being considerably higher than the annual investment and operation expenditures of the KNP. Sustainability of the edg-specs. habitat around the lake could be achieved if the region's inhabitants get compensated by KNP visitors. The results clarify important policy issues and help to resolve conflicts among stakeholders. |
