| Tiivistelmä: | Faced with an unprecedented number and variety of products on the market, managers are finding it harder to predict demand and plan their production and orders accordingly. Some, believing that speed is the answer, have taken steps to improve production scheduling. But such moves only address part of the problem. What's really needed is a way to improve forecasts and simultaneously redesign planning processes to minimize the impact of inaccurate forecasts. In this article the authors outline accurate response, a new approach to the entire forecasting, planning and production process that enables companies to use the power of flexible manufacturing and shorter cycle times more effectively. |
