| Tiivistelmä: | The moderate expansion of the German economy that began in the autumn of last year continued during the first half of the current year. The weak economic growth, particularly that in West Germany, is due entirely to exports. Since as far back as the start of 1996 there has been a marked recovery in foreign demand for German products, a recovery that has accelerated in recent months. The spark of booming foreign demand has so far failed to jump across to domestic demand, however. |
