| Tiivistelmä: | By the end of 1996, the national urban residents' per capita living area reached 8.22 square metres, which was still at backward level. Calculated according to the goal set by the Ministry of Construction, at least 0.3 billion square metres of housing needs to be built in cities and 0.56 billion square metres in rural areas every year in a bid to reach 0.8-0.9 square metres of housing in the country by the year 2010. In a word, 4.706 billion square metres of housing will be added in cities across the country in the coming 14 years with average annual increase of 0.336 billion square metres. There is no doubt that both supply and demand are huge in housing market in China. |
