Tiivistelmä:This paper examines the Swedish attitude to European economic cooperation, an attitude that has been described as a reluctant. Sweden's neutrality has been the traditional explanation for that. This explanation has been challenged by researchers, who have claimed that a nationally self-sufficient social democracy was responsible for the reluctance towards Europe. In this text, neutrality is still seen as the main explanatory factor.
