Tiivistelmä:This paper investigates the time-series pattern of music in a supply and demand framework. It argues that changes in the internal structures of successful songs are tied to market forces. By exploring ,if the structure of music has changed in past 50 years, major regime changes were found: the periods in which entrepreneurship played greater role in generating changes in the structure of music are identified. With the data set this paper offers, it is clearly testable proposition that pop music is often alleged to encourage anti-social behavior and undermine cultural values. Pop music may have something to do with the deregulation of industry and the fall of centrally planned economies.
