| Tiivistelmä: | In the present paper the authors investigate the possibility of spillovers arising from the influx of FDI into Spain using a panel of manufacturing firms during a period shortly after Spain's accession to the EU, namely 1990- 1998. In the authors' analysis the authors emphasize two points. Firstly, the fact that Spain was undergoing considerable structural changes in its transition from a fairly protected to a liberalized economy after accession to EU creates the possibility that sectoral characteristics that may attract FDI and that are generally considered to be relatively stable, at least over shorter time periods, ar in the Spanish case likely to have altered considerably during the authors' sample period. |
