| Tiivistelmä: | It is suggested that service sector recruiters and managers should be given some information and have their awareness raised concerning the available labor pool. It may be important for the manager to learn some of the relevant experiences the applicant has had. Managing one's way around the welfare system, e.g., requires a number of skills that may be useful in other settings. Project Transition, a program created to bring together welfare recipients and the fast food industry, provides insight into the advantages of systematic preparation to non-mainstream persons. Project Transition demonstrated that non-mainstream applicants can succeed in jobs where they have a reputation for failing, if hired and coached properly. |
