| Tiivistelmä: | Seven exciting frontier areas of international business research are described and examined: 1. interdisciplinary approaches to international business; 2. comparative (cross-national) studies e.g. of industrial policy; 3. developments in international trade theory, encompassing foreign direct investment and strategic moves by firms and countries; 4. studies of international competitiveness; 5. renewed interest in the role of the multinational enterprise in less developed countries; 6. the analysis of joint ventures, alliances and co-operative forms of business activities; 7. studies of service industries. The role of cultural differences is highlighted. A new conceptual framework is developed. |
