| Tiivistelmä: | Labour productivity in the European Union member countries are calculated. The result show that there is quite a divergence in labour productivities with the Netherlands and Italy reaching 85 % of the West-German level, Spain 62 % and Portugal 35 per cent. This implies that labour costs have to be differentiated substantially btw. the EU countries. The paper analuzes the implication for a wage policy and for the financing of the social security systems in Europe. |
