Tiivistelmä:The consumer goods market in 1996 featured-growth of the total retail sales of urban and rural consumer goods markets, supply exceeding demand in terms of the total amount, intense competition among commercial enterprises , being very active in sales promotion. The total retail sales of consumer goods for the whole year was 2461.4 billion yuan , up 19.5% over 1995. Influenced by the general situation, the demand for consumption will grow greatly than 1996 and there will be no great fluctuation on consumer goods market. The retail price will rise by 6% or so. The slow growth of residents' income (about 5%) will affect the growth rate of consumption. It is estimated that the total retail sales will be up 20% or so over last year.
