| Tiivistelmä: | Europe's general growth prospects are considered first, followed by a discussion of trends in industrial output and employment. Because external demand plays an important role in the European economy, the outlook for intra-European trade and investment is examined in some detail. Another key factor in growth is macroeconomic policy. Europe's economies are becoming less synchronised with those of the USA and Japan, and changes in policy will therefore have a greater significance than before. Likely trends in key areas of policy are highlighted. Growth of income, industrial growth and productivity, employment and labour markets, and intra-European trade and investment are examined and data are presented. |
