| Tiivistelmä: | The increasing importance of regional integration, first of all in Western Europe, North America and the Pacific region in Asia is not always positively appraised. Especially the danger of restricting free trade is emphasized. The article consideres the impact of regionalism on world trade. Data concerning the trade between and inside the three regions mentioned above are presented, and the determinants of regionalization are examined. The issue of protectionism and the possible ways of eliminating trade barriers are also investigated. |
