| Tiivistelmä: | The most obvious manifestation of the global production sharing is the growth of intermediate product trade within the Pacific electronic industry. The empirical investigation shows the pattern of global production sharing where Japan exports to the U.S. though the Asian Newly Industrialized Countries by supplying intermediate product to these countries. Findings suggest that global production sharing can serve as a strategic route to organize the operations of manufacturing firms in the face of increasing global competition and rising tide of protectionism. |
