| Tiivistelmä: | The development of the information and telecommunications sectors in Singapore are compared with other countries in the Pacific region. Various issues are considered, including application of information technology, manpower, efficiency and competition, privatization, and the social information gap. Prospects for Singapore's information and telecommunications sectors as catalysts to future growth are promising, especially in light of market-oriented initiatives of the government-owned telecommunications authority, Singapore Telecom. Examining Singapore's telecommunications sector in the 80s, only limited privatization is endorsed. |
