| Tiivistelmä: | Time is needed to enlarge and deepen the maturity of MERCOSUR. It is difficult to imagine that nationalistic countries with a past of wars can overcome their history and culture. Analysis indicates strong trends towards towards regionalism. Although MERCOSUR will never materialize in its essence, it is certainly an integration process with no way back. Chile and Bolivia should be next members and its success will be measured according to the integration proposals presented by other nations. MERCOSUR has a number of hurdles and opportunities. Besides the economic needs and political goodwill of the nations, integration depends on the investments in highways, railways , ports and airports as well as consumers willing and able to buy. |
