| Tiivistelmä: | Recent economic and competitive changes have forced management of international companies to review the operation and structure of international supply chain management. The traditional approach of seeking trade-offs among key functional objectives such as purchasing, production, distribution, sales, etc., no longer worked and a new approach was required. Beyond inevitable periodic economic swings many companies increase their vulnerability by inducing real and unreal business cycles through inadequate communication between the various functions. The need for creating a balance of the conflicting objectives is stressed, the new role for inventory and supply policies is demonstrated. A strategic framework is developed with a better communication. |
