| Tiivistelmä: | In environmental decision-making valuation methods have been used for cost-benefit analysis of projects, cost-benefit analysis of new regulations , natural resource damage assessment, environmental costing, and environmental accounting. The lower importance attached to economic efficiency in environmental decision-making in European countries compared to USA might account for the main finding that there are very few valuation studies in Europe which have served as a decisive basis for environmental policy and regulations. With EU's goal to establish environmentally adjusted national accounts and to apply cost-benefit analysis to environmental policy and regulations, for an increased use of valuation techniques in Europe time seems ripe. |
