| Tiivistelmä: | The market for household textile detergents comprises washing powders and washing additives such as fabric softeners. Textile washing products for industrial use are excluded. In 1989, 957,000 tons of textile washing preparations were sold on the retail market in West Germany, with a value of DEM 2.9 billion. Volumes declined by 3 percent in 1989 and market value by 5 percent in 1989. This downward trend is expected to continue up to 1994. The market is effectively saturated. 24 percent of domestic products was sold on export markets. Compact powders were launched onto the market in 1989 that should help to buy the value of this sector.
