| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of this article is to discuss questions regarding the self-directed work group (hereinafter abbreviated as SDWGs). The main focus is on key areas that must be addressed when an organization is considering developing these groups. A number of other questions are answered regarding why SDWGs developed, how they are different from other team approaches, and what their major impacts are on an organization. A brief history of past management practices and theory serves as backdrop for this discussion. |
