| Tiivistelmä: | The just-in-time philosophy is regarded as not a theoretical approach to manufacturing management but a wide-ranging practical application which prescribes many down-to-earth changes on the shop floor. It is shown that like just-in-time production management, the introduction in UK of advanced manufacturing technology should be an evolutionary process which suggests the returns will be long-term. It is stressed that manufacturing strategies can only be developed using appropriate management information systems designed to enhance functional integration. |
