| Tiivistelmä: | It appears that the cyclical downturn in the Western industrialized countries is gradually drawing to a close, although economic developments within this group of countries remain very heterogeneous. There is little reason to expect that expansion in the USA and South-East Asia will provide a perceptible impulse for economic activity in Europe. It will only be possible to reap the full benefits from the Single European Market if it is both "open" and "offensive" with regard to third countries. |
