| Tiivistelmä: | This paper proposes a new method for measuring the degree of vertical integration within a firm or industry. It is based on the magnitude of intra-firm flows of output across industries, relative to the magnitude of market transactions. While data on intra-firm flow are often sketchy or non-existent, the authors show how they may be imputed indirectly from standard input-output tables and information on market shares of firms across industries. |
