| Tiivistelmä: | The problem of scheduling in flowshop and flowline-based manufacturing cells is considered with the criteria of minimizing makesplan and total flowtime of jobs. The formulation of scheduling problems for both the flowshop and the flowline-based manufacturing cell is discussed. The author then presents the development of the proposed heuristic for flowshop scheduling. The proposed heuristic algorithm and the existing heuristic are evaluated. The author also investigates the effectiveness of these heuristics to minimize total machine idletime. |
