| Tiivistelmä: | The document flow within businesses include purchase orders, invoices and shipping notices. The creation, handling and distribution of these documents is a slow, labor intensive and error prone process. Electronic data interchange (EDI) offers the opportunity for companies to save time and money and increase efficiency through the alimination of paper documents. EDI also offers businesses a tool that can be used to reengineer work processes. This article discusses how PPG Industries has implemented an extensive EDI program with customers, suppliers, shippers and financial institutions. |
