| Tiivistelmä: | The competition commissioner, Karl Van Miert, has announced that the Commission will be preparing a green paper outlining its intention to adopt a new "structural" approach to the application of Article 85. He pointed out that the basic rules governing the application of Article 85 had been static for too long and needed innovation. In particular, he stressed that competition rules must adapt to changing economic conditions and indicated that the Commission might take a more liberal approach to vertical restraints and would undertake an economic analysis of cooperation agreements before subjecting them to a legal one. |
