Tiivistelmä: | The share of retail sales through electronic shopping (WWW) is increasing dramatically in the USA. There may be significant structural changes expected in the retail sector in Germany, as well , if the same trend will soon pick up. Due to the low transaction costs in the electronic commerce environment, the traditional functions of retailing may no longer be offered bundled only. It is shown how external players from other economic sectors can provide many of those functions as specialists of information processing cheaper and better. The article concludes with some remaining strategic options for traditional retailers. |
