| Tiivistelmä: | In this article the authors will deal with some aspects of the economic relations between the EU and the CEECs and their implications for economic integration. The authors' main argument is that the Europe Agreements are too conservative. This conservatism is the result of EU fear of losing jobs, capital and wealth. The authors show that in many respects this fear is ungrounded. Short run costly adjustment may occur, but long run gains from integration are eminent. |
