| Tiivistelmä: | The authors consider a number of articles devoted to citizenship and ecological modernization in the information society. The central message embodied in this article goes as follows: information technology and its derivatives will be a constituent part of social systems in the coming century. The authors state that it should be kept in mind that technology is 'only' a part of society and not something outside it, and technological development itself should never be considered as social goal per se. For this purpose the society need other human aspirations. Thus, while the authors admit the rather heterogeneous nature of this collection of articles, the authors wish to argue that it reflex the true complexity of the world itself. |
