Tiivistelmä:Different views on organizational culture: 1/ it provides merely a new vocabulary, 2/ it is inaccessible, difficult to understand or change. A list of definitions of frequently studied cultural forms (rite, ritual, myth, story, language, artifact etc.). The main concern is organizational rites because, in performing the activities of a rite, people generally use other cultural forms to heighten the expression of shared understandings appropriate to the occasion. Managers can learn to interpret their organizations' rites. The social consequences of rites are discussed. A tipology of rites is presented. Research findings on several rites are summarized.
